Program: Catalyzing Weight Loss: The Power of GLP-1 Agonists

Event Registration Details

Objectives: Upon completion of the presentation, the learner will be able to:

  1. Provide an overview of obesity and the associated complications.
  2. Discuss the potential benefits of GLP-2 agonists beyond weight loss.
  3. Recite an overview of GLP-1 agonists and their mechanism of action in weight loss.
  4. Explore the efficacy and safety of GLP-1s in promoting weight loss
  5. Verbalize the population that may benefit from GLP-1 agonist therapy for weight loss
  6. Address barriers and challenges of implementing GLP-1 agonist therapy for weight 
    control in clinical practice.

Dr. Greg Perry is an adjunct professor at HSU and serves as the instructor for the Pharmacology course in the DPT curriculum. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He has clinical and pharmacotherapy expertise in several disciplines including critical care (neonate, pediatric, and adult), cardiology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine and parenteral nutrition. Dr. Perry is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist. Dr. Perry has been involved in the implementation of clinical pharmacy services at several health systems in Texas and Colorado. Dr. Perry is currently the Pharmacy Residency Program Director at United Regional Healthcare System in Wichita Falls, Texas and he recently became a member of the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacist Education Committee. 

CCU: This program is approved by TPTA (1 CCU). A certificate will be available if you register in advance. We will provide the certificate following the presentation and completion of the evaluation.

Cost: *PTs or PTAs in need of continuing education credit: $15.00 for APTA members/$25.00 non-members. If you are a CI for HSU and have had an HSU student during 2024 to currently, we will cover your CCU payment. All are welcome to attend Lunch and Learn free of charge if no CCU certificate is needed or if you are a current student.

Lunch is available for those attending in-person for an additional $12 and will include a Deli Lunch Box.
