Program: Orthopedic Emergencies, Part II

Event Registration Details

Objectives: Upon completion of the presentation, the learner will be able to:

  1. Continued discussion on orthopedic emergencies with a primary focus on joint dislocations and fracture complications, such as Fat Emboli Syndrome and Fracture Associated Vascular Injury.
  2. Discuss acute and chronic cauda equine syndrome and long-term complications  and management.
  3. Identify long-term sequelae of defined orthopedic emergencies

Brianna Martinez, MPAS, PA-C is Assistant Professor with the Hardin-Simmons University Physician Assistant program since August 2020. She also serves as the Academic Director for the PA Program. She graduated with her Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies for University of Texas Medical Branch in 2015. She immediately entered the world of Orthopedic Surgery, where she found her passion and practiced until 2020. In that role, she practiced in Sports Medicine, Joint Replacement, and Orthopedic Trauma. Orthopedic clinical experience includes arthroscopies, ligament repair and reconstruction, total shoulder and hip replacements, fracture management, amongst others. She currently has clinical roles in both the urgent care and emergency department, where she still gets to be involved in the initial management and evaluation of orthopedic injuries and trauma.

CCU: This program is approved by TPTA (1 CCU). A certificate will be available if you register in advance. We will provide the certificate following the presentation and completion of the evaluation.

Cost: *PTs or PTAs in need of continuing education credit: $15.00 for APTA members/$25.00 non-members. If you are a CI for HSU and have had an HSU student during 2024 to currently, we will cover your CCU payment. All are welcome to attend Lunch and Learn free of charge if no CCU certificate is needed or if you are a current student.

Lunch is available for those attending in-person for an additional $12 and will include a Deli Lunch Box.
